3.DC water
DC Water distributes drinking water and collects and treats wastewater for more than 672,000 residents and 17.8 million annual visitors in the District of Columbia. DC Water also provides wholesale wastewater treatment services for 1.6 million people in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland, and Fairfax and Loudoun counties in Virginia. To distribute drinking water, DC Water operates more than 1,350 miles of pipes, four pumping stations, five reservoirs, four elevated water storage tanks, 43,860 valves and 9,500 public hydrants. 4.Chesapeake Ranch Water Co
CWA’s headquarters and offices are at 11560 H.G. Trueman Road in Lusby, MD 20657. These offices are located on a large parcel within the Lusby Town Center.
In 1960 Chesapeake Ranch Water Company was created by the subdivision developers as an enterprise operation. After a bid to have the County take the system over was rejected, the subscribing home owners of the subdivisions petitioned the PSC to purchase the water supply system and reorganize it as a nonprofit cooperative. After the ownership of the system was transferred to the subscribers in 1979, the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Maryland recognized the locally elected Board of Directors of CWA as the controlling authority for the system. This removed CWA from the PSC domain, and transferred all utility business regulatory control of the corporation to the elected Board of Directors of CWA.

Commission
The Metropolitan Commission, also known as MetCom, is the public water and sewer utility for St. Mary’s County. We deliver clean drinking water and treat wastewater. Ninety-two employees serve approximately 16,000 homes and 850 commercial establishments.
MetCom’s mission is to provide safe, clean drinking water and to treat wastewater according to state and federal standards and regulations.
Service areas are identified by the growth and planning objectives of the county as established by the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County, the Planning Commission and the office of Land Use & Growth Management. In some instances, public sewer service may be extended to certain areas identified by the Health Department as areas of comprehensive septic failures, to prevent a public health hazard.
We maintain over 300 miles of water mains, 200 miles of sanitary sewer lines, 70 wells, 39 ground based storage tanks, 16 water towers, 52 water pumping stations, 61 wastewater pumping stations and five waste water treatment plants.

10.Rockville Water Services
Rockville is one of Maryland’s oldest towns, with its origins dating back to Colonial America. During Revolutionary times Rockville was known as Hungerford’s Tavern, the name of its most familiar business and landmark.
When Montgomery County was formed by a division of Frederick County in 1776, Rockville served as the county seat and gradually became known as Montgomery Court House. In the 1780s, the community was known as Williamsburgh, named for the family that subdivided the central part of town, when Rockville was little more than a cluster of homes, a tavern, a courthouse and a jail.
In 1801, the Maryland General Assembly officially established the name of the town as “Rockville” because of its location close to Rock Creek. The population grew from 200 in 1800 to 400 in 1846. Rockville became incorporated in 1860 and was governed by three commissioners until 1888, when the city’s 400 residents elected the first Mayor and Council.
