What is BYOD Mean & Policy? Byod is Risk Free

Beyond “mobile-first” to “mobile-only” :  For sure we live in a fast paced world where things change within fraction of seconds. Gone are the days when we had a “no mobile phone usage” age. Today, we dwell in a world where working without a mobile phone seems quite an uphill task. Rather I should say that today, we rely only on the mobile technology for getting work done and wading through the deadlines.

How many of us know about BYOD? Well, that’s quite a many of you! I know you all are eager beavers, wanting to explain the concept of BYOD and bouncing off the walls. But for all others, let me just step in as a helping hand. To begin with, BYOD means Bring Your Own Device. It is making significant inroads in the business world, permitting employees to bring their own laptops, tablets, smart phones to their workplaces and using them to perform day to day activities and access some company information.

For sure after reading about BYOD, it must have captivated you and became an apple of your eye! Well, there are a lot more benefits ringing in with it. Wish to know what these benefits are? Well, then let us begin our journey of BYOD!

How many of us face issues on using some new machine or device? Well, I can see an array of hands here! I totally agree with you. New devices become a bane of our lives while we burn the midnight oil to understand and use them. But BYOD unclips our clipped wings and allow us to work on our own devices which we are very much familiar with. Does it free us from the hassles of wasting our time in breaking our head with the new devices? Does it free us from the nasty claws of decreased productivity? Yes, surely it does! When we end up wasting our time on understanding its functionality, we do save on time and focus on greater productivity!

And how can we forget that greater productivity is the cornerstone of happiness? For sure, if we are able to perform to our level best, no one can snatch away the level of satisfaction and happiness that will follow as Happiness is not something that you can postpone for future, it is something that you design for the present.

Many of the companies may be living on the breadline or may not have deep pockets, for them BYOD is like an opportunity falling in their lap by God’s grace. Eliminating the need to set up separate computers for their employees can cut down the industry costs by massive amounts! You will surely hit pay dirt if you use this new technology and see your business bloom with the incoming profits!

Alright, so moving on, next stop on our journey are the dreadful pitfalls of BYOD. The idea is not to scare you off but to help you ride out the dangers linked to BYOD so that you can take steps beforehand and curb the issues pertaining to this new trend.

What if your employees suddenly decide to leave the company? You probably would not have enough time to wipe out all your private company information from their devices. And who knows they may end up making use of this legitimate information? So why not design some strategy around this loop hole?

The organizations leave no stone unturned to ensure the secrecy and security of their information. But what if the employees are too reluctant to update anti-virus software on their devices and may end up losing some important company information? This leakage of information could pose as a great threat to the company’s reputation too!

Are the devices that the employees bring along with them only used in the office? No, of course not! So what if these employees are using the devices outside the office premises under the umbrella of some unsecured wifi network? Wouldn’t that put company’s stake at risk?

So carve out an effective security plan to combat the issues related to BYOD. Don’t fall prey to pressure cooker syndrome when using technology. Remember not everything is better with tech, so choose wisely.
