At the same time, out of every 10 elderly couples in India, more than 6 are forced by their children to leave their homes leaving a large number of elderlies abandoned on the streets. SHEOWS for the last 18 years is working on the cause of saving the elderly who are dying on the roadsides, footpaths etc. as presently there are no old age homes for paralytic, the disabled and bedridden elderly who provide comprehensive support to them under one roof.
At SHEOWS, we believe in providing the destitute elderly who are abandoned and deserted on the streets of Delhi and NCR with a place in our Old Age Home, as cozy and comfortable as their home. We have special care units, 24*7 medical team, pathology lab, and physiotherapy & X-ray facilities to ensure that our elderly are rehabilitated and nurtured back to good health.

On 29 June 2000 the organization “Maa Madhuri Brij Varis Sewa Sadan, Apna Ghar” was established at village Bajhera, District Bharatpur of Rajasthan (India), only 40 k.m away from world-famous Taj Mahal Agra by Dr. B.M.Bhardwaj and Dr. Madhuri Bhardwaj. To serve the homeless helpless destitute sick persons who are facing a very painful phase of life, the Organization established ‘Apna Ghar.’ Ashram (Residential home for destitute), where all necessities like treatment, food, clothing, care and other requirements are provided without any charges and with public support.
Along with their helpmates, Dr. Bhardwaj couple is continuing their mission to give homage, hope and happiness to homeless, destitute, oppressed, helpless, abandoned, mentally and Physically sick, injured, infected, old aged and dying condition persons. These persons are generally found on the railway stations, bus stands, religious and other public places in very unhygienic, critically diseased and painful condition. Nobody comes forward to help or even to touch them. So due to lack of food, medicine, and care, their condition becomes more and more critical and even they generally go towards lingering and painful death. All of our efforts are to reduce their pain, save their lives and give them a homely environment with food, shelter, and medical treatment without any charges. After recovery, the Organization rehabilitates them in various ways so that they can live with respect and dignity and also they can stand themselves in the mainstream of society.

7.Home For Aged & Handicapped – Untkhana
The “Home for the Aged and Handicapped” formerly known as the “POOR HOUSE” is situated in Untkhana Nagpur. A land given By FATESINGHRAO RAJE BHONSALE to the Catholic Mission.
In the year 1890, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation approached the Bishop of Nagpur, Monsignor Riccaz to take care of the abandoned lepers, the crippled. Other institutions declined the request of the Corporation, but Bishop Riccaz took up the responsibility willingly and joyfully. He entrusted this work of Mercy to Salesian Missionaries of Mary Immaculate.
Poor House consisted only of mud huts by the side of the Road where as many as 100 men, women and children were kept and cared for. They have had to be fed, clothed and medically attended too. The sisters repaired few camel stables and stayed with the people. With a meager help from Bishop, donations from friends and well-wishers, simple living and savings of the sisters, the sisters managed to run the Institution. The Municipal Corporation used to donate a saree and a dhoti to every inmate once a year. Thus the Residents of the Home and Sisters continued to live in a miserable dilapidated accommodation for nearly 70 years.
