DAVO is an award-winning, registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) set up in 1985 by Mr. Dev Giri Goswami, in New Delhi.
His journey began when he left his home in 1978 to become a driver. He noticed that drivers always left injured animals on the roads and decided to bury any dead animal he came across.
While doing so he also came across lot of homeless people who were in very unhygienic, critically diseased and painful condition. Nobody would come forward to help or even to touch them.
He brought back to his home several homeless people he met on the roads, gave them a good haircut and provided them with nourishing food. He and his wife began performing the last rites of unclaimed dead. They believed in humanity and not religion and performed the last rites of Muslims, Christians & Sikhs too.

Godhuli, with its head office at Bhagat Chandra Hospital, RZF-1/1, Mahavir Enclave, Palam Dabri Road, New Delhi 110045 India, annually provides free pre-primary education to close to 500 children of age group Four to Six years, and thereby gives them the opportunity to develop the aptitude and attitude to attend conventional centre. Not stopping at that Godhuli also provides education upto standard 3 to school dropouts so that they can be once again main-streamed in recognized schools within this period. It’s significant as most of these children are living and growing up in socially challenging environments and alongwith their parents require constant motivation.
