The desire to do something for children with disabilities led our Founders to establish, Ashayen Centre, earlier known as The Spastics Centre, Kanpur. Ashayen began in April 1990 with just 21 children, becoming the first centre of its kind in Uttar Pradesh. We started primarily for children with Cerebral Palsy. However, with growing awareness and support from foreign and local donors we are fortunate to be serving more children and young adults, we have broadened our scope over the years to include children with Mental Retardation, Autism, and Multiple Disabilities.

A small incident happened in my life which made an everlasting effect on my rest of years on this beautiful earth. It was first week of my school in 1991, I was running from canteen to class VII B which was on second floor of school campus at sharda nagar.i saw a boy struggling hard to climb up the stairs as he was effected by POLIO but at that time I was not aware of any disease called POLIO .
