Kejriwal announce the free travel for women in Metro-DTC Delhi

The AAP government is going to make big announcements in the wake of assembly elections in Delhi beginning next year. Delhi Government will give gifts to women for free travel in metro and DTC buses Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will announce it at the press conference (Monday) at 12.30 pm today. The Delhi government will provide free travel for women to get rid of rent in Delhi Metro and DTC buses so that they can be encouraged to use public transport. The Delhi Government will compensate the loss due to DMRC in giving free travel to women.

In buses and metro, 33% of the total passengers are women. According to this, the free travel of women in the metro will cost about one thousand crore rupees per year, while the expenditure of around Rs 200 crore will be borne by the government on buses. It is estimated that in the implementation of this scheme, in Delhi Metro and DTC buses for women, the government will be burdened by around 1200 crores annually.

The Delhi Government has held a meeting with officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to implement the scheme and asked them how this scheme can be implemented. There will be free pass arrangements for this or any other option.
