1. Bread Los Angeles

Bread Los Angeles was created in 1991 on 3rd street promenade. To follow the company’s growth, the bakery moved the West Adam District in 1993. In 2004, Manova Partners took over Bread Los Angeles. Since 2008, the bakery has moved to a larger facility in Montebello allowing us to deal with the increasing number of clients requesting our products and service.

2. Vanilla Bake Shop

The inspiration for all our desserts at Vanilla began with my mom. She had a way of surprising our family with homemade cakes and sweets all the time. It was her thoughtfulness and my sweet tooth that inspired me to start baking at an early age. In 2007, shortly after I graduated culinary school and my husband finished law school, the doors of Vanilla Bake Shop opened.

3. Coco Bakes

I grew up in a house that smelled like a bakery.  The Santa Monica Wednesday Farmers Market was a ritual, browsing the stalls, getting to know and talking to the farmers, bringing them cookies.  I learned to bake at my mom’s side, often using her very first and only Kitchen Aid Mixer.  That mixer was a staple of my childhood, turning it on and off, cracking eggs and adding ingredients and best of all, licking the blades.

4. Huckleberry Cafe

Huckleberry Bakery & Café, like the other restaurants in the Rustic Canyon Family, is owned and operated by Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan, who are both local, having been born and raised in Santa Monica. Josh and Zoe fell in love while working together in their nearby restaurant, Rustic Canyon. Jamaica Crist grew up in the small coastal town of Newport, Oregon. Her first job was as dishwasher in a local restaurant. While in high school, her mother opened a small cafe and had Jamaica help run the place. She worked there until moving to Eugene, Oregon to attend college. She continued to work in a variety of restaurants, moving thru all the various positions: hostess, waitress, cashier, bar back and pantry/prep/dessert cook.
