Difference between MS and MD

MS is a master’s degree in general surgery while MD is a master’s degree in general medicine. Both of the above are postgraduate courses and only after completing the MBBS course you can take admission in one of these courses. In general parlance, the study area of MD consists of non-surgical branch whereas MS only covers surgical studies. In simple words, if you want to become a heart surgeon or neurosurgeon, then after completing your MBBS, you should take admission in MS course. But, if you want to become a General Physician, then you should take admission in MD degree course.

Prospects of MS and MD courses are different with respect to job roles, profiles and salaries.
