Bernie Hill happened to be in the office and said she would visit the house with Sister Lucy. Although the property was old and badly maintained Sister Lucy liked it, but, since she had no funds, she told Mr. Lt. D. Lazarus to find another buyer. He asked Sister Lucy to think it over and left. After he left, Bernie suggested that she and her family would purchase the house for Maher. Sister Lucy was overwhelmed with joy and contacted Mr Lt. D. Lazarus telling him to visit her with all the necessary paperwork to purchase the property. Prakash Kothwale and Hira Begum completed the documentation with the help of Francis D’Souza and Zaheer Khambatta and the house was purchased on Feb 2008. On 1.3.2008 there was a beautiful inauguration of the office at Swagat. The space can accommodate nine staff and is manageable, although it has quickly become crowded because the Organisation is growing so quickly and next door to the office there is a home for twenty five young children.

2. MAJHA GHAR FOUNDATION

APNAGHAR ASHRAM runs 50 Asharms across India and takes care of 9000 such people with love and care for the last 22 years. We fondly call these people PRABHUJIS (form of God)instead of destitute. We have positively impacted more than 50,000 lives.

We provide clean and hygienic accommodation, nutritious food, medicines, clothes and all necessities totally free of cost. The expenses of ALL ASHRAMS put together is approx. ₹20 Lakh per day.

In Pune, APNA GHAR is running 2 Ashrams – one for Ladies in Hinjewadi and one for Gents in Pride World City, Charholi Budruk with a total capacity of 180 PRABHUJIS(residents). We have a total staff of 36 employees to take care of them round the clock in all respects. APNA GHAR ASHRAM, Pune is run by MAJHA GHAR FOUNDATION. The daily expenses of the two Ashrams in Pune is about ₹75 thousand per day.

Those who have critical illnesses, old age or are bed ridden are taken care of for life by APNA GHAR ASHRAM. At the end of their life, APNA GHAR performs their last rites with due respect and dignity as per the religion of the deceased.

Since 1979 we have been working as a non-government organisation to provide

education and conductive environment for children between 0-18 years.We educate children of destitute women, backward castes, and orphans. Our work is recognised by Maharashtra and supported by the Child Welfare Department of the state Govt of Maharashtra.Donations to Sarvesham Seva Sangh are eligible for tax exemption under 80 G. International donors can contact us and make donations to our bank account directly as we are allowed by the govt of India under the FCR Act to accept donations in foreign currency.We provide hostel and school facilities at Vadgaon Bk(Sarvesham Balgruha) and Talegaon Dhamdhere ( Anand Ashramshala ) in Pune District for children between 0 and 18 years.

7. Aanandashram-sanstha

Anandashram is situated the elegant and magnificent building of anandashram sanstha in appa balwant chowk, in the heart of pune city. This institution was founded more than 130 years ago by the renowned and successful high court advocate mr. Mahadevarao chimanaji apte ( 1845-1894 a.d). Mahadevarao’s uniqueness lies in donating all his property to the trust he formed for setting up anandashram sanstha. At the end of his life mahadevarao decided to formally and ritually renounce but only after fulfilling his dream of anandashram with the shrisachchidananda temple therein. He tried for and got the permission from the british government, well in advance for his samadhi below the temple and then was initiated in atursannyas.

8. Kinara

During such an event I had an opportunity to teach homeless children’s from a NGO. Looking at those homeless children of the almighty.Suddenly the love for the humanity made me think of the other aspects of the society and I searched and came across the old aged abandoned, blind, Mentally retarded, physically challenged, helpless poor individuals and destitute.This made me think to live for a purpose in life, to serve as many such individuals as possible & fulfil my life with this joy.And thus we established kinara.org in year 2010.The very first donation was received from a unknown person. He had donated three new beds with mattress and blankets.

9. Manavya

Manavya (Humanity in Marathi Language) is among the few pioneering Non-Government Organizations (NGO) in India, to understand the ramifications of HIV/AIDS outburst in India and to take necessary steps to rehabilitate the innocent children and women affected by this dreaded disease.Rapid development of Pune city brought with it a turbulent rise of various issues, and among them was that of HIV/AIDS cases. Reports of deaths of family heads due to this dreaded disease, started to thrown out women and children out of their rightful house and were denied food, shelter or any sort of support.

10. Sofosh

Since its inception, it has been catering to the needs of the abandoned, orphaned little ones from our society. shreevatsaBabies relinquished by their single birth mothers are also offered shelter under this roof. Thus Shreevatsa offers a loving home and hope to family deprived children from the age of new born to 6 years.Children here are well looked after and provided with healthy and nutritious food along with additional supplements whenever required to combat malnutrition.
