To use the video-calling app Zoom, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an advisory explaining how to use the app. In this advisory, it has been clarified that government officials should not use the Zoom app for any government work. This app is not secure. From Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) to MHA, many information has been provided about this app. In such a situation, we are going to tell you here why the Zoom app is insecure.
Know the 8 reasons that make Zoom App dangerous:
- Zoom conferences can be hacked. Recently, the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) meeting was interrupted. Because some hackers took control of the chat window of the app.
- Participants of the official Zoom meeting may conduct malicious activities at the terminals of others present therein.
- Cert-In had reported that Cyber Criminals can steal user’s personal information through Zoom
- If Zoom is not used properly, then any person can join that meeting without your will.
- It was also reported about the Zoom app that personal emails and photos of users are also being leaked. This drawback was in the directory settings through which emails and photos were being leaked
- MHA Advisory indicated that the Zoom could be used for Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. These are only one type of cyber attack
- Zoom had said that no meetings held on its platform are encrypted end-to-end. In this case, the video call can be decrypted by a third party.
- If you do not know how to use the Zoom app, then your personal data can be leaked through recording.
