American Idol seems to love Winterland Studios. We had RCA recording artist Daughtry here recording with his producer Howard Benson. Howard has worked with L. A. Guns, Motorhead, Sepultura, My Chemical Romance, Hoobastank the list goes on.Producer Engineer David Z who has worked with Prince, Johnny Lang, Fine Young Cannibals etc. was here with Minneapolis band Zmo Trio.Indigenous likes us too as we recorded their second album with us. 4. Minnehaha Recording Company
The building at 4501 Minnehaha was erected in 1939 as a Phillips 66 gas station. Shortly thereafter, a single-bay auto shop was built onto the gas station.The Phillips 66 functioned as a gas station until 1964, when sporting good and air gunsmith company B&B Supply purchased the building and opened its doors. B&B supply operated for 50 years.In 2014, the building went on the market and we saw its potential. It was a stand-alone build with high ceilings and brick walls – perfect for recording drums. Once we had the city’s approval, we began gutting everything and turning the raw space into an acoustically-controlled and warm environment. It took months and months of work, but we were able to build the studio we always wanted.

5. The Pearl Recording Studio
Pearl Recording Studio opened the summer of 2011 as a retro style recording studio in the heart of NE Minneapolis’ “Art District”. Offering both analog and digital recording services to bands, singers, ensembles, etc; the Pearl’s mission has been to provide a great service with an old-school analog feel at an affordable price. The Pearl has worked with bands of every level, genre, & type of project – from Last Import to Buffalo Fuzz to Little Fevers to We Are the Willows.Now in a new space that has been built from the ground up with our own hands after the original studio burned down.
