3.MD EyeCare
Our ophthalmology practice traces its roots to the 1960’s, when Robert N. Dunphy, MD, joined the practice of Dalton Peele, MD in 1963. Dr. Peele served as an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Military, and had returned from service in the Korean War. Dr. Peele and Dr. Dunphy shared an office at the Santa Ana Medical Arts Building, located at 1125 East 17th street in Santa Ana. Then in 1974, Dr. Dunphy moved to an office at 1201 West La Veta Avenue, on the campus of St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, and was joined in practice by Alexander F. Dora, MD.
As both physicians retired in the mid 1990’s, the practice continued its growth under Mercer L. McClure, MD. He added George H. Garcia, MD, in 1999. Dr. Garcia has recruited outstanding associate eyecare providers to join him, and you can learn about them on our “Meet Our Doctors” page. Over these four decades, each of the physicians in the practice has carried on a long, unbroken tradition of striving to provide the highest level of eye care possible. 9.Pediatric Eye Care & Surgery
I was born in Chicago, IL and raised in Cerritos, CA where I now live with my husband, 2 children, and our cat named Jean-Luc. I wore glasses full-time as a child. In kindergarten, I wore a patch over my right eye to strengthen the vision in my left eye as treatment for amblyopia (lazy vision). I have had 2 strabismus (eye muscle) surgeries to correct esotropia (eye crossing). My first surgery was at the age of 3 and my second surgery was at the age of 7.
I absolutely loved my ophthalmologist. Each visit, he would ask me, “Sarah, what do you want to be when you grow up?” And I would reply, “An eye doctor, like you!”
