The Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapathy temple ( ശ്രീ പഴവങ്ങാടി മഹാ ഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രം) is situated at East Fort in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram City. The main Deity of the temple is Sri Mahaganapathy (Ganesha). The main idol is installed in a seated posture with the right leg in a folded stance. The temple is situated in close proximity to the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple. Other Deities worshiped at the temple include Dharmasasta, Goddess Durga and Nagaraja. The temple sculptures include 32 different forms of Lord Ganesha.

8.Ananda Nilayam Orphnage & Widow Home

Ananda Nilayam is an orphanage for destitute children and widow rehabilitation centre. Education and rehabilitation of destitutes have been a major problem of Kerala, particularly in the city of Thiruvananthapuram. A compelling urge to serve the destitutes was the major driving force that made Matha Prasantha Yogini to think seriously of the possibilities and action plan to support and empower the unfortunate children. She established Ananda Nilayam in 1934, donating her land and possessions to the project. Even today, the dreams, dedication and vision of the Matha continue to be the inspiration for all the activities of the institution.

Ananda Nilayam has nearly 50 destitute children of various ages. They have a true sense of belonging to the home, willing to share any household work. The children attend school; special tuition by voluntary teachers who supplement the tutoring after school. Sports, games, dance, tailoring, drawing etc.. are promoted for the recreational and developmental needs of the children. Food, clothing, education, health care are provided for free to the inmates.
