3.Studio 101 Nola
In 2007, DJ Boudreaux and his family returned from temporary exile in Colorado with their ghetto fabulous martini lounge camper in tow, determined to reestablish their home in New Orleans. Almost immediately upon arrival, DJ discovered a cavernous, decrepit, Cold War-era walk-in cooler, and true love blossomed.
Recognizing a dearth of music rehearsal facilities among the other New Orleans recording studios in early Post-K Nola, DJ launched Studio 101 to provide a 24-hour access practice space in the heart of the Crescent City. He built the ship while he sailed it – all of the renovations were funded out of pocket, and he was obsessively hands-on during every aspect of construction.

For 11 years he engineered hundreds of ADR and voiceover sessions at Swelltone Labs in New Orleans. Donald Markowitz was born and raised in NYC, Markowitz began his professional career playing bass for Speedo and the Cadillacs. In theatre, along with his band Arms Akimbo performed and wrote the music for the acclaimed production of Sam Shepard’s Tooth of Crime at the La Mama Theatre. 3D Studios is creating a one-stop shop for local artists, uplifting the community of New Orleans East, and helping creators take their projects from concept to reality.In 2020, educator-turned-entrepreneur, Roxanne Moray had a blossoming event center located on the top floor of New Orleans East’s Executive Plaza building but saw immense untapped potential within the walls of the building. She met with successful recording artist and content creator, 3D Na’Tee, to discuss the idea of constructing a full service recording and production studio. The pair realized that they shared a unified mission to uplift the community of New Orleans and a passion to create a space where creators could thrive. That shared mission was the foundation of their partnership.After founding 3D Studios in January 2021, Na’Tee and Roxanne began renovating the 11th floor workspaces. As with any new business, they faced challenges from not just the pandemic, but also with the idiosyncrasies of working in a section of the building that has not been occupied since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
