Anna Centenary Library

The Anna Centenary Library (ACL), a state-of the-art library was inaugurated on September 15, 2010 on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. C N Annadurai popularly called ‘ANNA’. By reason of his great interest towards the books and library, this library is named as ‘Anna Centenary Library’. The foundation stone laid on August 16, 2008, completed in a short span and declared open to the public from 20th September 2010.

Tamilnadu Government Public Library

Tamilnadu Government have promulgated public Library Act in 1948, According to the act a committee named Local Library Authority, Coimbatore was constituted in August 1950. Thiru C.M.Rama Chandran Chettiar(Kovai kizhar) was elected as chairman of the committee. The District Central Library, Coimbatore commenced to render its service to the public since 1.6.1952 at “Victoria Town Hall” Building. Due to development its has been shifted to Gandhi Memorial Library Building at V.O.C park Coimbatore during the Middle of 1956.

Central Library Indian Institute of Technology Madras

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) was established in 1959 by the Government of India as an Institute of National Importance. Recently, IIT Madras has celebrated 58th Institute day on 15-04-2018. The Central Library also started functioning from the year 1959 from the Department of Civil Engineering, in 1965 the Central Library shifted to Independent Building in front of Institute Main Guest House.

Roja Muthiah Research Library

The Roja Muthiah Research Library (RMRL) was founded in 1994 to preserve, catalogue, and expand the collection of Roja Muthiah Chettiyar, a private collector who put together one of the world’s finest private libraries of Tamil publications during his lifetime. Located in Chennai, RMRL currently houses one of the most unique collections of Tamil imprints in South Asia. Some of the publications date from the latter part of the eighteenth century.

Connemara Public Library

Connemara Public Library is at Egmore in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. This is one of the oldest libraries in the country. This library is one of the four National Depository Libraries which receive a copy of all books, newspapers and periodicals published in India. It is located in the Government Museum Complex on Pantheon Road, Egmore, which also houses the Government Museum and the National Art Gallery.

Anna University Central Library

The University Library, which has been established in the year 1978 gained autonomy from December 2000. It is housed in a three storeyed new Building located at the eastern side in the main campus. The total area of the Library building is about 4122 sq.m. 30 video cameras are placed at strategic points in the library for surveillance. The MIT campus also has a library of area 1256 sq.m. Around 10,157 registered uses are in access of the library. Many knowledge-based services like that of Reference, Bibliography, MALIBNET service., DELNET, Reprography, CD-ROM Databases, Internet browsing and e-services are provided by the library for its users.

Loyola College

Loyola College, a Catholic Minority Institution, was founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1925, with the primary objective of providing University Education in a Christian atmosphere for deserving students irrespective of caste and creed. It started functioning in July 1925 with just 75 students on the rolls in three undergraduate courses of Mathematics, History and Economics. Loyola College, though affiliated to University of Madras, became autonomous in July 1978. It is autonomous, in the sense that it is empowered to frame its own course of studies and adopt innovative methods of teaching and evaluation. The University degrees will be conferred on the students passing the examinations conducted by the college.

Miller Memorial Library

The College Library was founded in the college in 1863, just a year after Miller arrived. This facility was upgraded as a Consulting Library in 1869, containing dictionaries, atlases, commentaries and books of Reference of every branch of knowledge. This was open for the students of the college for one hour before the commencement and two hours after the college was closed. In 1870 about 200 students had free access to the General Library, and over a thousand books were borrowed in a year. It was so efficiently managed that not a single volume was found missing.
