The name translates from Hindi to English as”The Fort of Chandi”,Chandi being a Hindu Goddess. Known internationally for its architecture and urban planning, Chandigarh is home to numerous architectural projects of Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Matthew Nowicki, and Albert Mayer. The city boasts a high standard of living with the highest per capital income in the country and tops the list of Indian States and Union Territories with a Human Development Index of 0.674.

By the grace of Guru Nanak Sahib, the Panjab Digital Library (PDL) began operations in 2003 as a tiny organization with a gigantic mission on its hands. Starting with one agenda, one desktop, and one employee, we have come a long way since then. The project emerged from the concerns shared by a group of individuals for the increasing disappearance and loss of heritage of the Sikhs and Panjab. Much has vanished whether through the passage of time, accident or political unrest. Despite the losses, it was evident that much could be saved or was worth saving. Preservation was our primary motivation and impetus with a focus on archiving “endangered” manuscripts and artifacts to preserve the heritage, culture and language of Panjab.

IISER Mohali Library was established along with the institute in 2007 to meet the academic and research information needs of the user community. It provides a conducive environment for intellectual enquiry by providing user-focused services to obtain and evaluate scholarly information and knowledge. The library was started in single medium sized hall with around 500 books on 13th Aug 2007 at Institute transit campus, MGSIPA building in Sector26, Chandigarh. On 1st May 2011, it was shifted to transit Building located in Institutes own campus Sector 81, Mohali . Finally the library has taken its own (present) place in Informatics Centre from 1st January 2015 with theme LEARNING COMMONS.

Welcome to Tagore Library. The library is the backbone of academic and research activities of the university and has been catering to the information needs of the faculty, staff members and students. The Tagore Library is Central library of Chitkara University and fostering knowledge through three branch libraries, these are Nursing Library, Pharmacy Library and Hospitality Management Library. The Tagore Library is housed in the three-floored building. The first floor is devoted to a Reading hall which is kept open 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. this floor is also having Reference Section, Circulation Section and Reading Room. The second floor is holding Stack area, Periodicals and Digital Information section along with the return counter. Dedicated reading hall is housed on the third floor.
