Founded in 1923, Caribou Medical Center (CMH), is a 25 bed federally certified Critical Access Hospital that is owned by Caribou County. Located at 300 South 3rd West in Soda Springs, Idaho, CMH is governed by a board of volunteers appointed by the county. The hospital has not received any county tax support since 2009, is totally debt free and is profitable from operations. 7.Lost Rivers Medical Center

Lost Rivers Medical Center was originally established in 1958 as an association. It was operated by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration who operated the facility until 1975 under the auspices of Butte County and filled positions ranging from administration to housekeeping. During their successful operation they added five (5) long term beds. When established, the main purpose of Lost Rivers Medical Center was to provide acute in-patient care to the citizens of Butte and Custer counties.

8.Teton Valley Health

The grand opening of Teton Valley Hospital occurred in 1939. The building construction was a federal government Works Progress Administration (WPA) project. It took the combined efforts of everyone within the community to raise sufficient funds to adequately furnish the 4-bed hospital. In all, over $40,000 was donated through a variety of creative methods such as auctioning livestock, coal, haircuts, beer and firewood. One year, school students decided not to buy valentines for each other and instead donate their “card money” toward the hospital.

10.State Hospital South

State Hospital South is offering limited patient visitation at this time due to COVID-19. If you would like to visit a patient, schedule the visitation through the patient’s clinician. State Hospital South in Blackfoot provides psychiatric inpatient treatment and skilled nursing care for Idaho’s adult citizens with the most serious and persistent mental illnesses. The hospital works in partnership with families and communities to enable clients to return to community living. State Hospital South includes 110 psychiatric adult beds and 42 skilled nursing beds. It also maintains a statewide program to restore the competency of criminal justice patients. The 42 skilled nursing beds in the Syringa Chalet Nursing Facility offer services to consumers with a history of behavioral or psychiatric illness.
