6.GREEN POWER EMC
Georgia’s first renewable energy program, Green Power EMC, provides electricity through its 38 member EMCs (Electric Membership Corporations). A nonprofit corporation, Green Power EMC uses green resources such as low-impact hydroelectric plants, biomass, landfill gas, and solar to generate electricity.
Green Power EMC Members’ renewable energy projects total approximately 635 megawatts (MW) of capacity.

Green Power Program
Jefferson Energy is proud to offer Green Power to our residential members. Sold in 150 kilowatt hour blocks, each block is an additional $4 added to the member’s bill. The cost for Green Power is slightly higher than that created from usual sources due to the cost of the technologies involved. The extra cost is a small price to pay for the environmental benefits for generations to come.
