1.Kyoto City University of Arts

Kyoto City University of Arts (京都市立芸術大学, Kyōto shiritsu geijutsu daigaku) a.k.a. “Kyōtogeidai” (京都芸大./Kyoto Univ. of Arts). The official abbreviated name is“Kyōgei”. KCUA is a public, municipal university of general art and music in Kyoto, Japan. Established in 1880, it is Japan’s oldest university of the arts (the predecessor of Tokyo University of the Arts was founded in 1887). Among its faculty and graduates have been 16 recipients of the Order of Culture, 24 members of the Japan Art Academy, and 10 artists who have been designated Living National Treasures. It has been associated especially closely with nihonga painters from western Japan.

2.Tohoku University of Art and Design

Established in April 1992 by Yamagata Prefecture and Yamagata City, Tohoku University of Art and Design is the first venture of its kind in Japan where a university built with funds by the government has been turned over to be operated as an entirely private university.

3.Tama Art University

4.Musashino Art University

Musashino Art University (武蔵野美術大学, Musashino Bijutsu Daigaku, MAU) is a private university in Kodaira, western Tokyo, founded in 1962 and having roots going back to 1929. Musashino Art University (MAU), located in Tokyo, marked the 80th anniversary of its foundation in 2009. MAU was founded as a private art school and was officially designated as a university in 1962.
