Seeds for Africa is a privately owned company in South Africa. Formed in 2011 we have a catalogue of over 2600 indigenous African and Exotic plant seeds. We are verified sellers on bidorbuy.co.za where we are consistently the top seller in the garden and outdoor living category. We have traded on eBay where we attained top rated seller status on the United States, German, French and United Kingdom sites. We regrettably are no longer able to ship internationally due to South African Government Department restrictions. We operate our independent website www.seedsforafrica.co.za catering to the domestic South African market. 

We identified a gap in a market that had become mundane with the same seed offerings. As passionate gardeners and a customer service focussed organisation, we wanted to freshen the market up by offering the consumer a large range of exciting, quality products, at the best prices with unequalled customer service. Our customer service doesn’t just end at supplying your products. We offer extensive after sales service with growing guidance, and advice on request. 2.Livingseeds Heirloom Seeds

The story behind Livingseeds goes back over 30 years. As a young boy I always remember collecting seeds, if I came across a tree that was shedding seed pods or wild flower in seed, I’d collect the seeds and store them in a small wooden box. This wooden box (which I still have) amassed a surprisingly large collection of assorted and unknown seeds over many years.  None were catalogued or named and I could only identify a handful of the really distinctive ones, the rest were indiscriminate and held my dream of germinating them…. one day.

3.Sakata Seed Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd.

Sakata Seed Southern Africa’s Seeds (Pty) Ltd grew out of C May & Co which was founded in 1931. Over the years the company developed a diverse portfolio including seed production, packet seed, vegetable, forage, turf and flower seed, vegetable breeding programs and specialised products for the home garden industry.

Trial grounds were acquired in 1947 outside Johannesburg, with plant breeding having been started in 1965. 1973 saw the introduction of the revolutionary and very successful hermetically sealed garden seed packets. A decade later, and an important milestone, Sakata Seed Southern Africa’s’s highly sophisticated seed laboratory was officially recognised as a government approved seed testing station.

Capstone also handles varieties that have been bred by Agricultural Research Council (ARC), Nelson Genetics’ Dr Sydney Nelson, and others.
