Urban Engineers, Inc. was founded by Nelson F. Goetz (Georgia Tech, class of ’51) in 1961 as a full service civil engineering firm handling the metro Atlanta area. Nelson, an airport engineer with Greiner Engineering at the time, saw a need to provide high quality civil engineering services in the rapidly growing Atlanta market. Over the nearly half century, the company has worked in both the public sector – working on the Fulton County Airport, and designing a section of State Route 400 for the Georgia DOT – as well as serving the private sector, working with Trammell Crow as the engineer of record for the Atlanta Technology Center, and with M.D. Hodges Enterprises on Atlanta Gateway Park, among others.
Unlike other firms that attempt to provide wide ranging architecture and engineering services across the nation, we specialize in site development services in the greater Atlanta region. We partner with leading developers and architects on projects ranging from master plans for regional parks and residential communities; site plans and designs for regional transportation; and industrial facilities. We are also involved with generating feasibility studies, site planning, and designs for commercial office parks; and, individual commercial, office, and industrial facilities.
