What is Biochemical Engineering?

Biochemical engineering is the branch of engineering in which the facts related to the study, design and construction of unit processes related to a biological organism or molecule are studied. It is an interdisciplinary study of chemical engineering (chemical engineering, biochemistry) and microbiology.

The main objective of this branch is to train students in biotechnology (biotechnology), biochemical engineering (biochemical engineering), microbial and enzyme systems. This will help them understand the biological or biochemical phenomena of these systems.

In addition, biochemical engineering is also concerned with kinetic growth, death and metabolism, agitation, fermentation, mass transfer and enzyme technology.

What do Biochemical Engineers do?

Biochemical engineers study the growth of cells, proteins and other biological substances for maximum growth and to remove the blockages in its path.

They observe the reaction of raw materials in a specific environment. After that, they develop some new processes to form new compounds from these materials. New compounds are mass produced for general public use.

Apart from the design work, the biochemical engineer also has to work for process and product development. Also, they need to work with research personnel and manufacturing personnel to provide adequate information about the developed products.

Under the innovation, they have to work with fellow chemists and biologists to develop new technology and products.

Biochemical engineers also have to ensure that the documents related to any research or experiment are well prepared or not.

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate Courses

Candidates should have 10 + 2 certificate with qualification marks as valid as aggregate subjects with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology as their subjects.

Most colleges demand a minimum of 50% marks as a condition of appearing for the test.

Exam Syllabus for Undergraduate Course

There are two parts to this exam paper. Multiple choice questions are asked in this exam. 3 hours of time is allotted for the candidates to answer the questions. Part I and Part II of this paper consists of three sections. Topics covered in these sections are:
