Kelvin M. Rodgers is an experienced criminal defense attorney dedicated to protecting the rights of individuals facing serious criminal charges in Louisiana and Texas. Originally from Spearsville, Louisiana, he has built a reputation for thorough preparation, strategic advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to justice.
Mr. Rodgers earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University in 2005 before attending Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. While in law school, he was actively involved in several student organizations and graduated in 2009. He was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in October 2009 after successfully passing the bar examination on his first attempt.
He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Judge Ramona Emanuel of the First Judicial District Court in Shreveport, Louisiana. In 2010, he joined the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, where he prosecuted a broad range of criminal cases, including murder, rape, armed robbery, burglary, drug offenses, and DWI cases. His experience as a prosecutor provided him with valuable insight into how criminal cases are investigated, prepared, and presented in court.
After more than five years of public service, Mr. Rodgers founded The Rodgers Law Firm in 2016 with the mission of providing high-quality legal representation to individuals and families in underserved communities. In April 2020, he was admitted to the Texas State Bar and expanded the firm's practice into Texas, continuing his commitment to serving clients facing complex criminal matters.
As a defense attorney, Mr. Rodgers has successfully represented clients in high-stakes cases and has achieved favorable outcomes in challenging criminal proceedings, including securing a not guilty verdict in a homicide trial involving significant video surveillance evidence. His extensive courtroom experience, combined with his background as a former prosecutor, allows him to develop effective defense strategies tailored to each client's unique circumstances.
Outside the courtroom, Mr. Rodgers is dedicated to mentoring young adults and supporting educational opportunities in his community. He established the Brenda Lynn Williams Morris and Clara Mae Watson Scholarships in honor of his late mother and grandmother to assist high school graduates pursuing higher education.
Mr. Rodgers is married and the proud father of two daughters. He remains committed to providing compassionate counsel, aggressive advocacy, and exceptional legal representation to every client he serves.
