ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers) was founded in 1981 at New Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals. These people were inspired by ASHRAE an American Society and dreamed to establish a society of India in similar pattern. ISHRAE has since grown rapidly and has more than 11000 HVAC&R professionals as members with, 42 chapters and sub chapters in important cities of India and more than 12,000 students have been enrolled through student’s chapters at various engineering colleges. The Delhi Chapter is the first and oldest of all constituent chapters of ISHRAE with more than 2000 members. ISHRAE has been organizing successful international and National Expositions, Seminars, Workshops and various other activities to achieve the primary objective of ISHRAE in furthering the arts and sciences of heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning.

ISHRAE’s primary objective is the advancement of Art and Sciences of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Engineering & other related Building Services. It promotes research in techniques/technology aimed at providing products and services. It also aims to envisage active user involvement and association in the development effort. It coordinates a broad spectrum of activities to attain its objectives. To achieve its objective, ISHRAE has been very actively organizing successful International and National Expositions, Seminars, Workshops, education, training programs and various other activities.

A number of landmarks have been accomplished and a many more breakthroughs are being encouraged. ISHRAE Handbooks on Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Ventilation & Weather Data Report have been developed and a number of projects relevant to the industry are being pursued by the fraternity. ISHRAE has recently embarked on a program, called the Integrated Approach towards Product Delivery (IAPD), to ensure that all the stakeholders in the building industry can meet their respective roles and deliver systems that meet the requirement and expectation of the end users.
