The word “Puja” is derived from the Dravidian ‘PU’ which means flower. Puja is also spelled as ‘Pooja’ or ‘Poojah’ in Hinduism and it is Ceremonial Worshiping performed in Homes, Offices, Social occasions and in temples etc. The simplest form of ‘Puja’ usually consists of offering flowers, fruits, etc. in front to an Image or Idol of a ‘God / Goddess’. The components of a ‘Puja’ diverge greatly according to the Community and needs of the particular Puja.
