    After year 2000 ever rising number of suicides in the State of Jammu & Kashmir became a cause of serious concern not only for the Civil Society but also for the private, public and corporate sector. Nothing concrete was being done to address the problem. There was urgent need to provide a set up a system with trained human resource to work towards creating a suicide free society. In 2012 a dedicated team of people discussed the issue with visionary Police Officer Mr. Dilbag Singh; IPS, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone and after pondering over the issue, an idea was mooted to set up a Registered NGO namely \u2018THE \u2013 SARA\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n
