The Park is now South Africa\u2019s second largest protected area after the Kruger National Park, incorporating the country\u2019s largest MPA \u2013 also the only Transfrontier MPA as it joins Mozambique\u2019s protected waters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">The Park contains three major lake systems, eight interlinking ecosystems, 700 year old fishing traditions, most of South Africa\u2019s remaining swamp forests, Africa\u2019s largest estuarine system, 530 bird species and 25,000 year-old coastal dunes \u2013 among the highest in the world.
