  1. Panjab University Extension Library<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Panjab University Extension Library is outcome of the joint effort of the Panjab University Chandigarh, University Grant Commission and Indian Wheat Loan Education Exchange Programme of US Embassy. Late 1959, a UGC Committee with the representatives of Panjab University and the Wheat Loan Office visited Ludhiana and after looking into the claims of the town of Ludhiana with its large number of students and teachers, the teaching facilities offered at undergraduate and graduate levels in the local colleges and the library facilities available in the town, the committee finally decided to establish an Extension Library at this place.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Mohinder Singh Randhawa Library<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Punjab Agricultural University Library was established with a meagre collection of 200 books in 1959 in College of Agriculture. Foundation stone for the present building was laid in February 1969 by Dr M. S. Randhawa. The library was shifted in the new building in 1972. However, at present, this temple of learning, with its beautiful five storey building, with covered area of 93,320 sq. ft., centrally air-conditioned and surrounded by lush green lawns, dotted with beautiful ornamental trees and pollution free environment has grown into one of the best libraries of the region – a place of pilgrimage for scholars and faculty members from all over the country. This library has 760 seating capacity in its Five Reading Halls. The aim of the library is to provide rich knowledge to its users and to extend it further through information technology, automation and networking.<\/span><\/p>\n

        The institution has a well-established Air Conditioned Central Library having rich collection of books, online books, print Journals,online journals,back volume journals. It has departmental libraries in all the departments, thus catering to the needs of Undergraduate, Post Graduate students and faculty. It has a working area of around 1800 sq. mtrs. There is separate Welfare Section in the Library for the financially weaker sections of the students. The books are classified according to DDC 23rd latest edition through Web Dewey service. Library is fully computerized with E-Granthalaya software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system those supports all in-house operations of the Library<\/span><\/p>\n
