    The Anna Centenary Library (ACL), a state-of the-art library was inaugurated on September 15, 2010 on the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. C N Annadurai popularly called \u2018ANNA\u2019. By reason of his great interest towards the books and library, this library is named as \u2018Anna Centenary Library\u2019. The foundation stone laid on August 16, 2008, completed in a short span and declared open to the public from 20th September 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Tamilnadu Government have promulgated public Library Act in 1948, According to the act a committee named Local Library Authority, Coimbatore was constituted in August 1950. Thiru C.M.Rama Chandran Chettiar(Kovai kizhar) was elected as chairman of the committee. The District Central Library, Coimbatore commenced to render its service to the public since 1.6.1952 at \u201cVictoria Town Hall\u201d Building.                   The University Library, which has been established in the year 1978 gained autonomy from December 2000.                     Loyola College, a Catholic Minority Institution, was founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1925, with the primary objective of providing University Education in a Christian atmosphere for deserving students irrespective of caste and creed. It started functioning in July 1925 with just 75 students on the rolls in three undergraduate courses of Mathematics, History and Economics.                     1. Miller Memorial Library<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      The College Library was founded in the college in 1863, just a year after Miller arrived. This facility was upgraded as a Consulting Library in 1869, containing dictionaries, atlases, commentaries and books of Reference of every branch of knowledge. This was open for the students of the college for one hour before the commencement and two hours after the college was closed. In 1870 about 200 students had free access to the General Library, and over a thousand books were borrowed in a year.
