What are the most common Respiratory Disorders?

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder – This is one of most common chronic inflammatory lung diseases that leads to obstruction in the airflow from the lungs. It is caused due to long-term exposure to irritating gases like cigarette smoke. The symptoms include breathing difficulty, cough, mucus production and wheezing. COPD may also pose a risk of developing heart disease, lung cancer and several other conditions.

Bronchial Asthma– This is a respiratory disorder in which the airways get swelled and narrowed. As a result, there is an excessive amount of mucus production, thus making it difficult to breathe, cough, and wheezing. Bronchial asthma can affect any person of any age or gender.

Tuberculosis – Tuberculosis is a serious infectious disease that commonly affects the lungs. The infection may also spread from one person to another through tiny droplets released into the air. People who are infected with tuberculosis need to take several types of medications for several months to completely eliminate the infection.

Pneumonia – It is the infection that leads to inflammation in the air sacs of the lungs. These air sacs are known as alveoli, which are filled with fluid or pus. Hence, there is difficulty breathing. Pneumonia is a contagious disease and can spread through air droplets or by coming with surfaces.
