If you are an ITI student or are planning to take an ITI course, then always a question comes in your mind and what kind of job will we get in the job market after doing ITI? What are the job prospects after doing ITI? Skills are also given preference in the job market, just like an academic degree. Due to programs like Skill India being run by the Government of India, the need to pay special attention to skill development has been felt by the youth of the country. Due to such skills development programs, the productive capacity of youth and institutions has increased. In today’s rising unemployment, the right skill sets and training ITI students have more opportunities for destined employment for candidates with higher educational qualifications.

Further study options for ITI students

Diploma course

For those students who have undergone ITI training in technical business or engineering domain, several engineering diploma courses are available. Unlike the ITI courses, in the diploma engineering course domain, emphasis is given on the description of both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.

Specialized Short Term Courses

For ITI students from certain trades, the Advanced Training Institute (ATI) offers specialized short-term courses. These courses help students to enhance their skills more, in this related domain, their job profile or industry requirements can be easily met.

All india trade test

After the completion of ITI course, another option for ITI students is to go for AITT or All India Trade Test. The All India Trade Test is conducted by NCVT (National Council for Vocational Training). This exam is virtually a skill test which certifies ITI students. After passing AITT, students are awarded National Business Certificate (NTC) by NCVT in the respective trade. NTC diploma is equivalent to degree in many engineering trades.

Job opportunities

Like other professional and professional course institutes, ITI also has a dedicated placement cell which looks after the placement of the students. In these placement cells, various government organizations, private companies and even foreign companies are tied up under which students are hired in many businesses and trades.

Job in public sector units

The largest employers of ITI students are public sector or government agencies. Students who have completed their ITI can seek employment in various public sector units / PSUs like Railways, Telecom / BSNL, IOCL, ONCG, state wise PWD and others. Apart from this, he can also make a career in the Indian Armed Forces i.e. Indian Army, Indian Navy, Air Force, BSF, CRPF and other paramilitary forces.

Private Sector Jobs

Those working in the private sector, especially manufacturing and mechanics, seek ITI students for business specific jobs. Apart from this, ITI students can get attractive career opportunities in major fields like construction, agriculture, textiles, energy etc. As far as specific job profiles are concerned, electronics, welding refrigeration and air conditioner mechanics are the most sought after skills for ITI students in the private sector.

Self employment

This is probably the most important benefit of choosing an ITI course, as it allows anyone to start their own business and be self-employed.

Nowadays we find a lot of shortage of trained and qualified plumbers, carpenters, construction workers, agricultural workers etc. It is a golden opportunity for students with ITI certificate to start their own business and be self-employed.

Possibility of job abroad

ITI students can also seek employment abroad after completion of their course. Like India, there is a lot of demand for people with such technical skills in other countries.

There are plenty of job opportunities in international oil and gas factories and shipyards etc. for some special trades fritters etc.
